Nicolas Cage’s Former NoLa Home Listed for $3.75 Million. Nicolas Cage and New Orleans were recently in the news together again when the movie star was arrested for domestic abuse and disturbing the peace after an incident in the French Quarter area in April. Cage, who won’t be facing charges stemming from the arrest, has recently been renting a home in New Orleans. But just a couple of years ago Cage owned two homes in the area, one of which is currently on back on the market for $3.75 million.
This historic six-bedroom home in the Garden District was designed by Henry Howard in 1856 for entrepreneur Henry Lonsdale. Lonsdale introduced chicory into coffee and also invented the burlap bag. The home was later owned by popular novelist Anne Rice. Rice has owned several historic mansions in New Orleans. She is currently trying to sell her home in Rancho Mirage, California, which is listed at $2,799,999.
This property along with Cage’s other home, the haunted La Laurie Mansion in the French Quarter, was up for auction in a sheriff’s sale in late 2009. His lender bought back both homes for a total of $4.5 million, two-thirds the value assigned by the bank’s appraisers. Cage had bought the Garden District home for $3.45 million in 2005 and later tried to sell it with a list price of $3.7 million. The home has approximately 10905 square feet of living space including a 2,100 square-foot main room which has a large spiral staircase. Over 1600 square feet of galleries and porches overlook the grounds which include cypress trees, a fountain, a brick patio and a pool.
Another one of Cage’s former properties, his Las Vegas home (above), is also on the market. The seven-bedroom home with 14,306 square feet of space is listed for $7.91 million. Cage bought this home in 2006 for $8.5 million. It has a professional movie theater, commercial elevator, game room basement, a 16-car garage, and a 2,000-square-foot master suite with a spa bath. The home also has an infinity-edge pool/spa and it was recently given a multi-million dollar renovation which includes an AMX smart home system, electric shades/drapes, two saunas, new floors, gourmet kitchen and new landscaping. It is being offered fully furnished.
