As a parent who has clocked up many hours waiting for kids at the kinder gate I am quite sure that there would be no hesitation from the children to use the marvellous padded entry and exit points at the Taka-Tuka-Land Kindergarten in Berlin, Germany.
We recently showed you a superb, thoroughly modern kindergarten in Tel Aviv, Israel. Equally fantastic but in more of an ‘organic’ style is Taka-Tuka-Land Kindergarten in Berlin.
The kindergarten was designed by Baupiloten, a group of architecture students at the Berlin Technical University. Overseen by professionals, the Baupiloten students are responsible for designing and building their own projects.
The Taka-Tuka-Land kindergarten was intended as a temporary kindergarten however the Baupiloten refurbishment was so successful, it stayed. The inspiration for the design was derived from the tale of Pippi Longstocking and her visits to the mythical Taka-Tuka country. The building itself is Pippi’s old oak tree that contains a lemonade factory. The lemonade ‘flows’ outside, creating padded play areas.
Check out the innovative interior and the fabulous ‘lockers’, swathed in lemon fabric – they sure look cooler than wooden boxes and clothes pegs.
